State Agencies Modernize Aging Software Systems Under New Contract
Nevada has signed a multi-year contract to replace decades-old case management software used across several state agencies.
Nevada has finalized a multi-year contract to replace case management software used across several state agencies, systems that in some cases date back more than two decades and have become increasingly difficult and expensive to maintain.
The modernization effort, which state technology officials say has been discussed for years without securing sustained funding, will roll out in phases starting with health and human services agencies before expanding to other departments.
Officials point to reduced processing times and improved data sharing between agencies as the main benefits, though they acknowledge the transition carries risk. Similar modernization projects in other states have faced delays and cost overruns, a history the contract's oversight committee says it is watching closely.
Legislative budget staff have asked for quarterly progress updates throughout the rollout, a condition attached to the funding after past technology projects drew scrutiny over transparency.
